We must enroll into dental college after completing graduation from a university or college with four year degree course to get dental degree certification. We can complete our dental education course in four years. Being a potential dentist, we can enroll ourselves in any of the 57 dental programs that is recognized in United States. The yearly tuition fees for the students will range from about $5,680-$34,800. Several other additional costs such as stay expense will increase the cost spent for our education. There are several type grant’s like grants for single mothers which can help you solve the problem. Total cost spend on dental education will rise up to $100,000. Only few students enroll themselves into dental programs and the main reason for this is because of the high cost. This has obviously led to the shortfall of dentist working in the country which in turn leads to high cost for dental education charged by existing dentist.

Because of the high dental educational cost most of the students are depending on the dental school grant to undergo dental education as these grants need not be repaid. Grants will generally allow the researchers the freedom for investigating and exploring topics of interest. While most of the dentistry grants are designed to practice dental faculty and dental professionals, some of the grants are to assist the dental student’s research efforts. Corporate foundation and dental organizations are the greatest donors of dental grant funds. Dental school scholarships and grants offer funding to the post graduates and undergraduate students for studying the dentistry related programs at the accredited dental colleges or schools. The student’s eligibility to get the awards is completely depended on the student’s motivation, career goals, community involvement and academic achievement. The scholarship or grant amount will vary from $500-$10,000 depending on the organization sponsoring. Dental school grants offered are described below.

American Dental Association:

American Dental Association provides funds to the dental students who are interested in the contemporary operative dentist. Students can request a minimum amount of $6,000 while they apply to get the grants. While we submit our application it must contain a detailed information of the budget and project. The grant recipient should present the work at annual meeting conducted by Academy of Operative Dentistry.

Academy of Osseointegration Foundations:

Students who enroll into the dental schools are eligible to get grants for supporting the research projects about the dental implants from Academy of Osseointegration. Grant of about $10,000 is offered annually to provide the funding for clinical, behavior or basic aspects of the dental implants. These funds can be generally used for data analysis, technical assistance, lab animals, travel to research manuscript preparation and related meetings. Students should include documentation related to their works which include statistical analysis in the application along with the detailed budget.

International Association for Dental Research:

The students who undergo research on the area of dental implant is eligible to receive awards from IADR or International Association for Dental Research. The funds are open to graduates, undergraduates and the students in the post-graduate dental program. The students must submit the abstract to the IADR committee which judges the entries based on the scientific merits. Two grants of about $500 are generally awarded and it includes the award for basic research and clinical science research. Students who submit the entries should be the members of IADR.

Delta Dental Foundation:

The students undergoing graduate programs at the dental schools in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana will apply for research grants form the Delta Dental Foundations. The students should submit a detailed budgeting report of the project and the approval form Human Subject Committee Review if the humans are involved as the research subjects.
