Mentoring Can Make the World of Difference to the Life of a Child

Owen Gyles on July 20, 2011 in School Paragraph

Since July is National Make a Difference to a Child Month, I was inspired to volunteer for an organization committed to helping children find a successful path in life.  I did not have to look much further than my own back yard. When I discovered UCAN (short for Uhlich Children’s Advantage Network), a Chicago organization that works to build strong youth &  families, I knew I had found the right place.

I contacted the organization almost immediately and will volunteering as a mentor this year. Just watch this video of these truly inspiring kids!

We can make a difference in the life of a child every month of the year- you dont have to limit it to July! I challenge readers to find a local organization that helps kids.  Visit these sites to learn more about how you can be a mentor to a child.

Connect with UCAN in Facebook & Twitter!
