Coping With Your Childs First Day in School

admin on November 4, 2011 in School Paragraph

Every parent who has a child entering Preschool or even Kindergarten knows how hard it is to watch your little baby go off into the unknown and mysterious world of school without you by their side. Many parents choose to take lots of pictures of the first day of school to store in scrapbooks and photo albums so they can share them and look through them for years to come. It is a great way of preserving those memories and reminding you and your child of much simpler and innocent times in your child’s life. The beginning of school brings a realization that your child is no longer “mommy’s and daddy’s little baby” and that they are their own, unique, individual that will someday be a functioning member of society. For many parents this is a hard reality to grasp and accept, but over the years it will become more and more clear.

It is important that you feel confident in your child’s school’s ability to keep your child safe and provide the best education possible. The best thing a parent can do is to research the school their child will be attending, ask people in the community about the school, talk to parents of children who already attend the school and find out any information they can about the school. It is important to know the teacher who is responsible for your child and know her policies and how he or she will deal with your child on a daily basis. Knowing all these factors will help to ease your mind and help you to cope with your child’s first day of school and the many days of school to come. School is much like child care, and you need to know what you are dealing with so you can feel confident that your child is safe and happy in their environment.

Parent’s have the difficult task of releasing their children into the world and allowing them to gather experiences that will help to shape them as human beings. Childcare and schools are just part of the many experiences your child will face and being an informed parent will help to make coping with your child’s first day of school much, much easier.
